Matt and Anne met through Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. They are both pretty nerdy so they ended up hanging out with the same group of friends. They slowly developed an interest in each other and finally Anne called Matt up and asked him out on Wednesday January 15, 2003. Matt was going to call Anne later that week, on Friday, but Anne being the impatient one, beat him to it.

The first date consisted of eating stir-fry and watching Shrek. Matt and Anne continued to see each other almost every day. They would eat dinner together, go to church together and of course do homework together. The more they got to know each other the more they felt like they were meant to be with each other.

After about a year of dating, Matt and Anne decided that they should get married. Unfortunately a year and a half long engagement was the most logical choice. So the wedding planning began. Eventually Matt got the ring and decided to make things official by proposing. Being the true romantic that he is, he proposed after a tickle fight. Fortunately, there was a flaw in the ring, so it was sent back and he received a new ring a few weeks later. Although he is not a romantic, he is a quick learner and realized that a more romantic setting would be more appropriate for his second proposal. The second proposal took place one evening in a park just off of the River Walk in the Third Ward of Milwaukee. Matt got down on one knee and asked Anne to share his life with her. Of course the answer was ‘yes.’

After a year of engagement, Matt and Anne are both very excited to finally be married. They love each other more now than they did when they decided to get married, and feel that God has truly made it clear to them that this is what He wants for their lives. They have already signed a lease on an apartment up in Shorewood, WI, and they can’t wait to move in and start married life together.
